Use “2026” only where the source proves it
BYD UK currently markets a BYD SEAL 2026 with Design and Excellence AWD versions. This is strong evidence for the UK market; it is not proof that every SEAL offered from China or another country is the same 2026 specification.
For export purchasing, start with VIN, build date, original market and exact trim. Keep the current UK specification as a comparison reference, not a global specification sheet.
The two UK reference versions have materially different performance
BYD UK lists the Design with 354 miles WLTP combined range, rear-wheel drive and 0–62 mph in 5. 9 seconds. Excellence AWD is listed with 323 miles WLTP, all-wheel drive, 0–62 mph in 3. 8 seconds and 390 kW/530 PS.
The current UK leaflet identifies the Blade Battery as LFP and lists 82. 5 kWh for both reference versions. A buyer should not combine the Design range with the Excellence performance and present that as one vehicle.
Charging and luggage figures must stay attached to the reference market
BYD UK states AC charging at 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 150 kW, with charging-time claims made under specified conditions. The current UK material also presents a 485 L rear boot and 72 L front boot.
Charging speed varies with charger voltage/power, battery temperature and state of charge. Before export, verify the actual charging inlet, onboard charger and software of the VIN, as another market may use a different configuration or service environment.
Safety ratings have their own scope
Euro NCAP assessed the BYD SEAL in 2023, and ANCAP states that its rating applies to BYD SEAL variants within the technical-report scope for Australia/New Zealand. Those independent assessments are useful evidence, but the buyer should record the rating year and applicable variants instead of simply writing “five-star globally. ”
For the exact export vehicle, verify airbag/ADAS specification, production period and whether the independent rating applies to that version.
Connected features can become an export problem
The UK leaflet notes that navigation is not available in all languages or countries and tells customers to check local availability. That warning is directly relevant to parallel exports. App services, OTA updates, embedded connectivity, voice control, navigation and online accounts can depend on region.
Before payment, test or obtain written evidence for the destination language, smartphone integration, app registration, OTA pathway, charging-map dependence and any subscription that matters to the customer.
Buyer decision
The SEAL can be a strong electric-saloon option, but the purchase should be tied to a specific version. Before payment verify VIN, original market, battery and motor configuration, charging inlet/power, WLTP claim source, safety-rating scope, warranty region, software/services, tyre specification, parts and diagnostic support.
Do not publish a single “global 2026 BYD SEAL specification. ” The safe approach is to show a clearly labelled market reference and then verify the offered vehicle against it.
What the quotation and contract should identify
A strong SEAL quotation should identify the VIN or, before VIN allocation, a frozen market-specific configuration that will later be reconciled to the VIN. Record original market, production date, trim, driven wheels, battery, official range test cycle, AC and DC charging hardware, wheel and tyre package and the equipment that materially affects the buyer’s decision. If the seller is quoting the UK MY26 reference, the contract should not quietly combine Design and Excellence AWD values: the Design reference carries the longer WLTP range and RWD performance figures, while Excellence AWD carries the quicker acceleration and AWD output. Once a specific export vehicle is allocated, photograph its VIN, labels, charge inlet, wheels, dashboard and key option areas and compare them against the contractual configuration.
The after-sales file matters as much as the specification sheet. Confirm which warranty region applies, whether the destination has authorised or competent high-voltage diagnosis, what charging cable is supplied and whether navigation, app functions, cellular services and OTA support are available in that market. Safety evidence should identify the exact Euro NCAP or ANCAP assessment scope being referenced rather than displaying a generic “five-star” badge. For a parallel import, connected functions may depend on region, account, SIM/network or software support. These items should be treated as conditional until written destination evidence exists. A buyer who needs fleet uptime should also identify collision parts, windscreen/ADAS calibration, tyres and battery/inverter service routes before shipment.
When the BYD SEAL evidence is not strong enough
Do not approve payment when the quotation mixes data from different trims or countries. A common error is to pair the UK Design range number with the Excellence AWD acceleration or power figure and present the result as one vehicle. Another is to treat “2026” in a current UK leaflet as proof that every SEAL in every source market is the same model-year configuration. The vehicle identity must come first; the reference brochure comes second.
Also pause when the seller cannot show the actual charge port or refuses to state whether the offered unit is RWD or AWD, when a safety rating is described as global, or when app, OTA and warranty coverage are promised without destination support. A model-family photograph or a public specification page can help identify what should be checked, but it does not prove the exact unit. The purchase is ready only when VIN-level evidence, market-specific specifications, safety scope and service assumptions no longer contradict one another.
Frequently asked questions
BYD SEAL: Is this a universal 2026 specification?
No. The cited facts belong to named markets and configurations; match model code, build date, drivetrain, equipment and VIN. Output and driveline: Design 230 kW RWD; Excellence 390 kW AWD; output changes with engine, motor, fuel, software and driveline.
BYD SEAL: Which identity evidence should be obtained before a deposit?
Obtain VIN and certification-label photographs, a dated configuration sheet, ownership status, inspection evidence and a quotation that identifies the same vehicle. Energy, fuel or charging: Blade Battery 82. 5 kWh; AC 11 kW; DC 150 kW; verify the exact fuel grade, battery, inlet and test method.
BYD SEAL: Does the cited safety result approve the import?
No. Confirm that the rating covers the body, drivetrain, steering side and production range, then obtain destination registration approval separately. Capacity and working limit: 5; 400 L + 53 L; use the certification and load labels on the physical vehicle.
BYD SEAL: What operating compatibility needs checking?
Verify fuel or charging hardware, local energy supply, tyres, payload or seating needs, diagnostics, software, parts and recall support. Independent safety scope: Euro NCAP 2023: Design RWD / Excellence AWD; ANCAP 2023; apply only to the listed body, drivetrain and production range.
BYD SEAL: How should total landed cost be compared?
Use one scope and Incoterm, then include inspection, transport, freight, insurance, duty, tax, adaptation, registration, service and foreseeable downtime. Market compatibility: LHD / RHD; CCS2; OTA; eCall; destination approval, warranty and availability require written confirmation.
